“ Drinks were delicious, strong and smooth! I was looking for a unique tasty experience and I’m so thankful that I found Kira. We have a seven course meal for two and about four drinks is for about 300 worth every penny and great hospitality by Jake, Dj and others. ”
“ Kira is a sushi restaurant that focuses on temaki and donburi in the River Oaks area. There are only 15 seats, so reservations ahead are a must. This has become my favorite spot for handrolls/temakis in Houston and definitely blows the others out the park! I got the Maitake, Maguro, and Hotate handroll along with the Happy Hour set. The handrolls are amazing! The fish quality is great, and the chefs were engaging and asked if we had any allergies. The Maitake does not have any fish and contains mushroom, instead, and it was so buttery and creamy. There is a butter garlic aroma if you sit on the left corner, and it is the chef searing the hen of the woods mushroom with the brown butter for the Maitake handroll, and and the smell will make you drool. All the other handrolls were great! The Happy Hour set came with 1 Crudo, 3 Temaki, 1 Lux Temaki, and Kakigori for 50, which was a steal! The service was fantastic! The hosts and the chefs took special care of our orders. They pay attention to you and are not just pumping out handrolls and trying to get you our of there as fast as possible. I got the Nude cocktail. The cocktails were not too strong and was a good balance of sweetness and bitterness. The vibes were nice with lots of Tame Impala LOL and felt very intimate—perfect for a date night. Spacing between each person at the bar was spread out enough to where you’re not bumping into each other, which is nice. There was a parking garage for all the shops nearby, and we just parked there. Overall, Kira was spectacular! Service was one of the best, and the handrolls and food we had were delectable for the price point. ”
“ Kira is hands down the best hand rolls in town. I went to Kira on Saturday evening and trying out their 7 course tasting. It's an open kitchen and you can see the chefs making your food. I love how everyone was very attentive and interactive with the guest. Thank you DJ and chef Q (hope i heard your name right) for the great service and hospitality. The food was phenomenal. I got an appetizer, 4 hand rolls: 1 tuna, 1 tofu (which surprisingly so good), 1 lobster (creamy and tender) and another one i forgot. Then A5 wagyu donburi, and omg the meat was tender, but soft and literally melt in my mouth, combined with the garlic chips, chef kiss. Finishing with the Choco Banana Kakigori, very banana-y not too sweet which i like, topping with the slightly salty and crunchy from the hazelnuts. Great place for date nights! I'll def come back to check out their lunch menu as well. But overall, 10/10. ”
“ We did the omakase for 2 and it came out to be 200. We also ordered a couple of old fashioned Fuji whiskey, a highball and a yuzu beer for drinks. The omakase included a crudo, 4 hand rolls each, a tuna sashimi flight, a tuna and uni donburi and a chocolate and raspberry kakigori to end. Our waiter was Jose and he was great with suggestions and was helpful whenever we needed him. My ratings for everything: Drinks 7/10 Crudo 8/10 Scallop handroll 8/10 Spicy tuna handroll 9/10 Lobster handroll 8.5/10 Mushroom handroll 9/10 Tuna sashimi flight 8/10 Tuna and uni donburi 8.5/10 Kakigori 9/10 Overall 8.5/10 I would highly suggest checking it out and would recommend booking with a reservation as there is limited seating. If you’re a salmon fan, maybe not the place for you. ”
“ Kira is newer, and almost hidden amongst the nearby shops, but was a genuinely wonderful experience to eat at. The server walked us through the menu options and we left it to the chef to serve a series of unique hand rolls. The last two courses were beautiful & memorable desserts (see pic). I had no expectations going into this dinner but they overdelivered. ”
“ I loved my experience at Kira. I was able to get a reservation while traveling to Houston, reservation process was easy. The ambience is just perfect, the food is great! Everything we had was fresh and each flavor combination is well thought out. You have to try it for yourself. I loved my visit to Neo and knew I had to check Kira out. ”
“ Came to celebrate my birthday with some friends and had the absolute best time with amazing food, service, and wine. We did the 7 course chef's selection and were pleasantly surprised by the premium selections in it! This is definitely one of Houston's best restaurant openings. ”
“ The only downside of this place was me underestimating it. I booked a reservation at 7:15 and due to traffic wasn't able to arrive until around 7:35, a little frazzled and dazed from the days adventures. The host welcomed me graciously and sat me down, introducing me to my server and mentioning that private dining begins at 8:15 for large parties only, meaning I didn't have much time. I understood and wondered if I should have canceled my reservation but sat and decided to let things play out. I took in the view and commented that the restaurant was beautiful, taking a little time to wind down and forgetting to look at the menu, which he then opened for me. I entered the space in a rush and worried but was reminded to enjoy the moment with the delicious handrolls and detail-oriented customer service. I mean, these guys don't miss anything. They remember your name without having to look and ask if you happen to be left handed before they place down chopstick holders. I also feel like they treated me with patience and grace depsite the fact that I was being a little silly like by not opening the menu for 5 mins. Each handroll is personally delivered to you with a short description of what it is before is fills your mouth with absolute pleasure. The music and lighting is just right and creates an intimate curated vibe. The chefs mastery is clear in that they do not require aprons because they work so cleanly. I had several handrolls and the chirashi as well as the coconut mango shaved ice. Chirashi and desserts as well as the hokkaido scallop handroll were stars. I wish I was able to finish my dessert and chirashi, unfortunately the lobster handroll made me a bit queasy from how rich it was. Skip that and enjoy more dessert than I was able to and don't waste any precious morsels of the perfectly seasoned fish that comes in the chirashi. Order some tea as well and sip and admire as the chefs manually shave ice to order before artfully topping with an assortment of seasonal ingredients. Come earlier than I did in order to fully enjoy this special experience that highlights the power of intentional hospitality, especially in today's disconnected and fast-paced world. So glad I dropped in, even if I was just passing by really. Truly a work of art, I predict this place will have a michelin star soon. ”
